The genre bending alt-rock band The Technicolors have returned with the release of their fourth album ‘Cinema Sublimina’, a vessel of feel-good psych-rock and indie-rock that perfectly paints the natural beauty and synergy of Arizona’s wonders. The band formed in 2012 and their music was influenced by the mid 90’s and created around the influences of Brit-pop-fuzz and further embellished with psychedelic sounds. Their first album was titled “Listener” in 2012 and followed up with “Sweat” in 2015, “Ultra-Violet Disguise” in 2016 and “Metaphysical” in 2017. Some of the lauded singles from these albums include: “Space Cadet,” “Tonight You Are Mine,” “Neon Roses” and “Song Bird.” For almost a decade the band has spent a lot of their time touring and has shared stages with artists such as Matt Maeson, The Maine, Turnover, The Wrecks and the Psychedelic Furs. While the LP may not have started out as a concept album, it ended up becoming a story that reflects the dissociation of reality.

Today, we have the immense pleasure of presenting this “new politic, uncharted territory” known as “Space Cadet”, the second single from the Sweat E.P. True to Smiley’s description, “Space Cadet” is something completely otherwordly. It is Amnesiac-era Radiohead with an extra dose of dreaminess and summery sultriness combined with the psychedelic haze of Flaming Lips to give the listener an ethereal feel. With meticulous acoustic arrangements, Smiley’s engaging vocals and soaring chorus the track is one that qualifies for instant repeat. Lyrically “Space Cadet” is introspective with the simple statement of “I’m just a space cadet, with nowhere to lay my head” and continues later with the plea of “don’t send me off”. Bringing these influences together, The Technicolors have created a fresh and exciting sound that will appeal to every alternative rock fan. And like these great bands, you will be briefly transported into another dimension, where solitude has never sounded so blissful.
